Mr. Elvestad is a graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, and brings over 35 years of engineering experience in the power industry. He spent 28 years on the utility side of the power meter, where he developed extensive expertise in electrical systems, grid operations, and utility-scale infrastructure. His long tenure in the utility sector provided him with a deep understanding of system reliability, regulatory requirements, and the complexities of power distribution.

Prior to joining Wyssling Consulting, Mr. Elvestad spent nearly seven years on the customer side of the meter, serving as the engineer in responsible charge for the design of solar PV and energy storage systems. In this role, he worked with some of the largest installation companies in the United States, gaining valuable insight into distributed generation, system optimization, and the integration of renewable energy technologies within existing electrical frameworks.

Mr. Elvestad is licensed in nearly every state, reflecting both his technical expertise and his commitment to supporting projects on a national scale. He is also a certified NABCEP PV Installation Professional, a distinction that underscores his proficiency and dedication to maintaining the highest industry standards.

In addition to his engineering work, Mr. Elvestad has contributed to the professional development of others by teaching multiple NABCEP preparation courses. Through his instruction and mentorship, he has helped numerous professionals successfully achieve certification and advance their careers in the solar industry.
